One evening, while his mother was in the kitchen making dinner, Little Johnny walked into the living room and looked at his father with a curious expression.
“Dad,” he asked, “why do grown-ups like to exercise in bed?”
His father nearly choked, but tried to stay calm.
From the kitchen, his wife immediately stopped stirring the pot and listened carefully.
“Well,” the father said awkwardly, “grown-ups sometimes do that because it makes them happy.”
Johnny thought about it for a moment.
“I want to be happy too,” he said.
His father quickly replied, “No, no. You have to wait until you’re a grown-up.”
Johnny nodded slowly, then asked, “But when I grow up, who will exercise with me?”
His father cleared his throat and said, “Hopefully, when you get married, it will be your wife.”
Johnny seemed satisfied for a second.
Then he tilted his head and asked:
“But Dad, how come our neighbor Sally exercises with you?”
A second later, his mother came rushing out of the kitchen.
Ten minutes later, the ambulance arrived.
