TXT: Johnny’s Breakfast Question

Little Johnny was sitting at the kitchen table one morning, slowly eating his breakfast and looking unusually thoughtful.

His mother was busy making coffee when he suddenly looked up and asked, “Mommy, why does Daddy have so little hair on his head?”

His mother paused for a second, trying not to laugh.

She didn’t want to say anything unkind about his father’s bald spot, so she quickly came up with what she thought was a clever explanation.

“Well,” she said proudly, “your daddy has very little hair because he thinks a lot.”

Johnny looked impressed.

“He thinks a lot?” he asked.

“Yes,” his mother said, pleased with herself. “People who think very hard sometimes lose their hair.”

Johnny nodded slowly and went back to his breakfast.

For a moment, his mother felt quite proud of her answer.

Then Johnny stopped chewing, looked at her hair, and tilted his head.

After thinking for a few seconds, he asked:

“So why do you have so much hair?”
