The Amish Traffic Stop

An Amish woman was driving her horse and buggy into town to buy supplies when she was stopped by a highway patrolman.

“I’m not going to give you a ticket, ma’am,” the officer said. “I just want to warn you that the reflector on the back of your buggy is cracked. That could be dangerous.”

“Why, thank you kindly, officer,” she replied. “As soon as I get home, I’ll have my husband Levi fix it.”

“And one more thing,” the officer added. “I noticed one of your horse’s reins is tied around its testicles in a way that looks… uncomfortable. You might want to have your husband check that, too.”

“Yes, sir. I surely will,” she said politely.

When she returned home, she told Levi about the cracked reflector.

“No problem,” Levi said. “I’ve got a spare in the barn. I’ll fix it right away.”

“And,” she added, “the officer also said there’s something wrong with our emergency brake.”
