One sunny afternoon, a cheerful little boy hopped onto a city bus, paid his fare, and headed straight for the seat directly behind the driver.
The bus driver glanced at him in the mirror.
“Afternoon, kid!”
The boy grinned.
“Hello, mister!”
For a few minutes, everything was peaceful.
Then the little boy decided it was time for a conversation.
“Hey, mister! You know what? If my mom was a hen and my dad was a rooster, I’d be a little chick!”
The driver chuckled politely.
“That’s nice, kid.”
But the boy wasn’t finished.
“And if my mom was a cow and my dad was a bull, I’d be a little calf!”
The driver sighed.
“Very interesting…”
A moment later, the boy piped up again.
“And if my mom was a female elephant and my dad was a male elephant, I’d be a little elephant!”
The driver’s smile had completely disappeared.
He tightened his grip on the steering wheel.
“Kid, I’m trying to drive here. Could you please be quiet for a little while?”
The boy nodded.
“Okay!”
Five seconds passed.
Then…
“Hey, mister! If my mom was a dog and my dad was a dog, I’d be a little puppy!”
The driver groaned.
“OH, FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE!”
But the little boy just giggled, clearly delighted with his own cleverness.
By now, the driver had completely lost his patience.
He slammed his hand against the steering wheel and snapped,
“Alright, smart guy! I’ve got a question for YOU!”
The boy leaned forward eagerly.
“Really? Go ahead!”
The driver smirked, convinced he was finally going to teach the little troublemaker a lesson.
“Alright, kid—what if your mom was a waitress and your dad was unemployed? What would you be then?”
Without missing a beat, the boy smirks and says:
“A bus driver.”
The bus nearly swerves off the road.
