One afternoon, a nun visited her doctor, looking completely miserable.
“Doctor, please help me! I’ve had terrible hiccups for three days, and nothing seems to work!”
The doctor smiled reassuringly.
“Don’t worry, Sister. Let’s see what we can do.”
He examined her carefully, checking her pulse and listening to her heartbeat.
But the hiccups continued.
“HIC! HIC! HIC!”
Suddenly, the doctor put down his stethoscope and looked at her seriously.
“Sister, I’m afraid I have some rather surprising news.”
The nun gasped.
“Oh, heavens! What is it?”
The doctor took a deep breath.
“Well, according to my examination… you’re pregnant.”
“P-P-PREGNANT?!” she screamed.
Her face turned pale, her eyes rolled back, and…
THUD!
She fainted right off the examination table!
The doctor immediately called for help, and a nurse rushed into the room.
“Doctor! What on earth happened to her?”
The doctor calmly replied,
“Well, I examined her and I told her she was pregnant.”
The nurse gasped.
“She is?!”
“Actually, no” said the doctor “but it sure as hell cured her hiccups, didn’t it?!”
