A woman was having a strange problem with the wardrobe door in her bedroom.
Every time a bus passed outside the house, the wardrobe would shake, rattle, and the door would fall right off its hinges.
After it happened several times, she finally called a repairman.
The repairman arrived, examined the wardrobe, checked the hinges, opened and closed the door a few times, and waited.
Sure enough, a bus drove past the house, the room trembled slightly, and the wardrobe door fell off again.
The repairman scratched his head. “That’s odd,” he said. “I think the vibration from the street is causing something inside the frame to shift.”
The woman asked, “Can you fix it?”
“I should be able to,” he replied. “But I need to see exactly what happens from the inside.”
So he stepped into the wardrobe and said, “Close the door behind me. I’ll wait in here until the next bus passes, and then I’ll know what’s causing it.”
The woman closed the wardrobe door and stood nearby.
At that exact moment, her husband unexpectedly came home.
He walked into the bedroom, saw his wife standing beside the wardrobe, and immediately became suspicious.
“What’s going on?” he asked.
Before she could explain, he marched over, yanked open the wardrobe door, and found the repairman standing inside.
The husband’s face turned red with anger.
“What the hell are you doing in there?” he shouted.
The repairman looked at him nervously and said:
“Well believe it or not, I’m waiting for a bus!”
