A young man and his date had driven out to a quiet back road some distance from town.
They parked under the stars, far away from the noise, traffic, and lights. At first, they were just talking and laughing, but after a while, things started getting more romantic.
Just as the evening was beginning to get serious, the girl suddenly stopped him.
“I probably should have told you this earlier,” she said.
The boy looked at her, confused. “Told me what?”
She took a breath and said, “I’m actually a hooker, and I charge twenty dollars.”
The boy stared at her for a moment, surprised and clearly disappointed. But after thinking it over, he sighed, reached into his wallet, and handed her the money.
A little later, when everything was over, they sat quietly in the car.
The girl waited for him to start the engine, but he didn’t move. He just sat there, looking out through the windshield.
After a minute, she frowned and asked, “Why aren’t we going anywhere?”
The boy turned to her calmly and said:
“Well, I probably should have mentioned this earlier too… I’m actually a taxi driver, and the fare back to town is twenty-five dollars.”
