Two drunks were stumbling down a quiet street late at night, arm in arm, trying their best to walk in a straight line and failing spectacularly.
The first drunk suddenly stopped, pointed up at the sky, and said with deep emotion, “What a beautiful night. Look at that moon!”
His friend squinted, swayed a little, then looked up too. After a long pause, he frowned and said, “Moon? Are you crazy? That’s not the moon. That’s the sun!”
The first drunk laughed. “The sun? At this hour? You’ve had way too much to drink.”
The second one puffed out his chest. “I may be drunk, but I’m not blind. That is definitely the sun.”
They stood there in the middle of the sidewalk, arguing louder and louder.
“It’s the moon!”
“It’s the sun!”
“It’s round and glowing!”
“So is the sun!”
“It’s nighttime!”
“Maybe where you come from!”
After several minutes of this brilliant scientific debate, they noticed another man wobbling toward them. He looked just as drunk as they were, but that didn’t stop them from seeing him as a wise and impartial judge.
The first drunk grabbed his sleeve and said, “Sir, please help us settle an argument.”
The second drunk pointed up and added, “Tell us what that thing is up in the sky that’s shining. Is it the moon or the sun?”
The third drunk look at the sky and then looked at them and said, “Sorry, I don’t live around here.”
