It was an unusually windy Sunday morning. The trees were bending, hats were flying through the air, and everyone arriving for the church service was struggling to keep their clothes under control.
A well-dressed lady was making her way toward the church entrance, holding her handbag in one hand and trying to keep her hat from blowing away with the other.
Just as she reached the front steps, an enormous gust of wind swept through the churchyard.
Before she could react, the wind lifted her skirt completely over her head.
Embarrassed and shocked, the lady quickly grabbed the fabric and pulled it back down, looking around nervously to see whether anyone had noticed.
Unfortunately, the Reverend had been standing near the entrance, greeting members of the congregation.
Instead of politely looking away, he started snickering.
The lady’s face turned bright red. She straightened her skirt, marched toward him and said angrily:
“Shame on you, Reverend! I can see you’re no gentleman.”
The Reverend looked at her and said, “I can see you’re no gentleman either.”
