A stranger was driving through a remote country area when his car suddenly slid off the road and landed in a ditch.
With no houses nearby and no phone signal, he had no idea what to do.
Fortunately, a local farmer soon appeared with a large, powerful horse named Buddy.
The farmer attached a rope from the horse to the car, stepped back, and shouted:
“Pull, Nellie, pull!”
Buddy didn’t move.
The farmer tried again.
“Pull, Buster, pull!”
Still nothing.
Then he called out:
“Pull, Coco, pull!”
The horse remained perfectly still.
Finally, the farmer calmly said:
“Pull, Buddy, pull!”
At once, Buddy leaned forward and easily dragged the car out of the ditch.
The grateful driver thanked the farmer, but he was completely confused.
“Why did you call your horse by three different names before using his real name?” he asked.
The farmer smiled and replied:
“Well… Buddy is blind and if he thought he was the only one pulling, he wouldn’t even try!”
