Two friends were sitting at a bar one evening, talking about life, age, and how some people manage to live so long.
After a few drinks, one of them said, “You know, my grandfather lived to be ninety-six.”
His friend raised his eyebrows. “Ninety-six? That’s impressive. What finally got him?”
The first man took a sip of his drink and said, “Liquor and women.”
His friend immediately laughed and shook his head.
“Well, there you go,” he said. “That just proves it. Too much liquor and too many women will get a man in the end.”
The first man smiled slightly.
“No, no,” he said. “It wasn’t like that.”
His friend looked confused. “What do you mean?”
The man leaned back and explained, “Grandpa loved his drink, and he loved chasing women. That was his whole idea of enjoying life.”
“So?” asked his friend.
“So toward the end,” the man said, “he couldn’t get either one anymore.”
His friend waited.
The man shrugged and said:
“So he just laid down and died.”
