A very overweight blonde woman went to see her doctor because she was worried about her weight.
The doctor examined her, checked her chart, and finally said, “Alright, I’m going to put you on a simple diet.”
The woman nodded seriously.
“For the next two weeks,” the doctor explained, “I want you to eat only vegetables and grains for two days. Then skip a day. After that, repeat the same routine.”
The woman listened carefully.
The doctor continued, “If you follow these instructions properly, by the time you come back to see me, you should have lost at least five pounds.”
The blonde thanked him and promised she would do exactly as he said.
Two weeks later, she returned for her follow-up appointment.
When the doctor weighed her, he was stunned.
Instead of losing five pounds, she had lost nearly twenty.
“That’s incredible!” the doctor said. “I didn’t expect such a dramatic result. Did you really follow my instructions?”
The blonde nodded proudly. “Yes, doctor. I did exactly what you told me.”
“Well,” he said, “that’s amazing. You must have been very disciplined.”
She sighed and said, “I have to admit, though, I thought I was going to drop dead after the third day.”
The doctor looked concerned. “From hunger, you mean?”
The blonde shook her head and said:
“No, from skipping.”
