A school teacher asked her students to make a sentence using the expression “I presume.”
One little girl raised her hand and said, “Yesterday, my mother washed all the dinner dishes by hand. I presume the dishwasher was broken.”
“Very good,” said the teacher.
Another student raised his hand and said, “This morning, my father drove the Volkswagen out of the garage. I presume the BMW wouldn’t start.”
“That’s excellent,” said the teacher.
Then Little Johnny, sitting at the back of the classroom, stood up and said, “Yesterday, I saw my grandpa leave the house with a newspaper under his arm and head toward the bushes.”
The teacher looked at him carefully and asked, “And what do you presume, Johnny?”
Little Johnny replied:
“I presume he was going to take a shit, because he can’t read.”
