The pretty secretary came in late for work for the third day in a row.
As she walked past the reception desk with her coffee in one hand and her handbag in the other, several coworkers glanced at the clock.
A few minutes later, the boss appeared at his office door.
“Sharon, could you come in here for a moment?”
She smiled casually and stepped inside.
The boss closed the door behind her and folded his arms.
“Now look, Sharon,” he said, trying to stay calm. “I know we had a wild fling for a while, but that’s over now.”
Sharon raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
He continued.
“I expect you to conduct yourself like any other employee around here. You’ve been late three days in a row, you take long lunches, and sometimes you disappear before the workday is even over.”
Sharon calmly sat down in the chair across from his desk.
The boss leaned forward.
“You can’t just come and go whenever you please.”
She smiled.
“And another thing,” he added. “Who exactly told you that you could behave like this around here?”
Sharon reached into her purse, pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and took a slow drag.
Then, while exhaling, she looked him straight in the eye and said:
“My lawyer.”
