One evening, a firefighter came home from work, looking rather pleased with himself.
“Honey, we’ve got a brilliant system at the fire station!” he announced.
His wife looked up curiously.
“Oh really? How does it work?”
“Simple!” he replied. “When Bell 1 rings, we put on our jackets. Bell 2 means we slide down the pole. And Bell 3 means we’re on the fire trucks, ready to go!”
His wife nodded, wondering where this was going.
The firefighter grinned.
“From now on, we’re going to use the same system at home!”
He explained enthusiastically,
“When I shout ‘Bell 1,’ you take off all your clothes. When I shout ‘Bell 2,’ you jump into bed. And when I shout ‘Bell 3,’ we make passionate love!”
His wife smiled and agreed to play along.
The following evening, the firefighter rushed through the front door.
“BELL 1!”
His wife quickly took off her clothes.
“BELL 2!”
She jumped straight into bed.
“BELL 3!”
The firefighter joined her, and things got passionate.
But just two minutes later, his wife suddenly shouted,
“BELL 4!”
The husband stopped, looking confused.
“What’s Bell 4?” he asked.
“More hose,” she replies, “you’re nowhere near the fire!”
